A trough is forecast to drift eastwards across the state today, then move over the east coast of the country into Wednesday as a cold front crosses Tasmania. A ridge extends over Bass Strait on Wednesday and Thursday whilst the trough then deepens over central coastal waters on Thursday then eastern coastal waters overnight Thursday and into Friday.
