Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is directing an east to northeasterly airstream over Victorian coastal waters. A weak low pressure trough over western Bass Strait will reach central waters late this morning then cross to eastern Bass Strait late Wednesday and early Thursday. A south to southeasterly airstream will become established on Thursday as the next high pressure system south of the Bight approaches Tasmania. Winds are expected to tend moderate to fresh easterly on Friday as the high moves to the east of Tasmania before tending east to northeasterly on Saturday as the high moves slowly across the Tasman Sea.
