- A high in the Tasman Sea combines with a trough approaching Victoria from the west to direct a hot north to northeasterly airstream over the coastal waters. The trough will cross Bass Strait during today, with southerly flow to the west extending across the coastal waters by the evening. A south to southeasterly flow then returns Wednesday as another ridge builds east over Bass Strait, turning more easterly on Thursday as another trough becomes established inland.
