Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is directing an east to northeasterly airstream over Victorian coastal waters. A weak low pressure trough is forecast to enter western Bass Strait early on Wednesday, reaching central waters during the late morning before crossing eastern Bass Strait late Wednesday and early Thursday. A south to southeasterly airstream will become established on Thursday as the next high pressure system south of the Bight approaches Tasmania. Winds are expected to tend moderate to fresh easterly on Friday as the high moves to the east of Tasmania before tending east to northeasterly on Saturday as the high moves slowly across the Tasman Sea.
