A high pressure centre to the east extends a ridge over Tasmania. A cold front to the southwest will approach Tasmania late today, crossing during Saturday. A cooler south to southeasterly airstream will then prevail on Sunday as a ridge extends to the south and a low centre moves well to the east, intensifying during the Sunday. The low rapidly deepens later Sunday and during Monday, remaining in place over the Tasman Sea.
