A tropical low lies just offshore of the Whitsunday Islands, and is extending a trough to its northwest. The low is forecast to move east, out of the coastal waters forecast area by Sunday, though the trough extending to the northwest of the low will remain over northern coastal waters over coming days, slowly drifting northwards.
