Weather Situation

A cold front is crossing the southern and central parts of the coast while a high pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea is extending a ridge toward the far northeast of the state. The front will continue to head north, reaching the far north coast by late Saturday, with a fresh and gusty southerly wind change in the wake. Then, the system will become stagnant off the far north coast or southeast Queensland coast and transition to a coastal trough while another ridge of high pressure extends across the south and east during the weekend through the early new week, interrupted by a series of troughs brushing Sydney coast as coastal southerly changes, the first one on Sunday and the second one on New Years Eve.
