- A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea and a trough over the inland will cause northeasterly winds to increase today as the trough moves east. Later today and during Sunday a low pressure system within the trough is forecast to deepen over the southern and central coast, bringing vigorous south to southeasterly winds and large waves. This system is expected to gradually move southeast early next week.
