- Weather Situation
- A series of high pressure systems passing to the south of the state extend a ridge along the southern and central coast whilst Tropical Cyclone Alfred (Category 2), currently 570 kilometres east of Gold Coast, is heading towards southeastern Queensland, making a coastal crossing in southern Queensland coast either late Thursday or early Friday. This will bring strengthening easterly winds, reaching gale force winds along the far north coast, and large powerful east to northeasterly swells for the rest of the week. Winds and surf conditions will gradually ease later Friday through the weekend as Alfred makes landfall and weakens while heading inland.
