- Weather Situation
- A series of high pressure systems passing to the south of the state extend a ridge along the southern and central coast whilst Tropical Cyclone Alfred (Category 1-2), currently about 500 to 600 km east of Brisbane, is heading towards southeastern Queensland, making a coastal crossing in southern Queensland coast either late Thursday or early Friday. This will bring strengthening easterly winds, reaching gale force winds along the far north coast, and large powerful east to northeasterly swells today through midweek. Winds and surf conditions will gradually ease later Friday through the weekend as Alfred makes landfall and weakens while heading inland.
