A deepening trough lies near the North Tropical Coast northeast coast. A high [1022 hPa] near New Zealand is maintaining a ridge over the remaining north Queensland waters. The ridge is combining with the trough to enhance onshore winds and push areas of rain onto the coast. The ridge and onshore winds will weaken on Wednesday and Thursday as the high moves away. A tropical low is likely to develop within the trough from around Thursday.
