Flood Watch for parts of Southern Inland Queensland, Capricornia and South East Coastal Catchments

Issued at 1:32 PM EST on Wednesday 2 Apr 2025.

A trough will move east across Queensland during the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday. The trough is forecast to bring moderate to locally heavy rainfall to the Flood Watch area during Wednesday and early Thursday. Minor flooding is possible across the Flood Watch area from late Wednesday, with isolated moderate to major flooding possible.

Rainfall is also forecast to affect catchments outside the Flood Watch area and may cause renewed river level rises across catchments where flood warnings are already current, including Warrego, Paroo, Bulloo, Barcoo, Thomson and Cooper. Existing flooding may also be further prolonged.

Inland catchments within the Flood Watch area are relatively wet from recent rainfall, whilst coastal catchments are very wet and likely to respond quickly to further rainfall.

Localised river level rises and areas of flash flooding are likely within the areas of heaviest rainfall. A Flood Watch is also current for New South Wales including the Border Rivers.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Dawson and Don Rivers
Burnett River
Burrum and Cherwell Rivers
Sunshine Coast Rivers and Creeks
Pine and Caboolture Rivers
Upper Brisbane River
Lower Brisbane River   Lockyer, Laidley and Warrill creeks, Bremer River, and Brisbane & Ipswich creeks only
