Major Flood Warning for the Paroo River (QLD)

Issued at 10:04 AM EST on Wednesday 2 Apr 2025.

Flood Warning Number: 11

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT HUNGERFORD AND LIKELY TO EXCEED THE 2010 AND 1990 FLOOD LEVELS FROM FRIDAY

Significant and widespread rainfall was observed across the Paroo River catchment last week, which has caused widespread and dangerous major flooding. A major flood peak passed though Eulo on Monday, above the 2010 flood level. This peak is now around Caiwarro, and is expected to reach Hungerford during Friday. Based on the river levels at Caiwarro during Wednesday morning, the peak at Hungerford is likely to exceed the 2010 and 1990 flood levels.

Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm remain possible for the remainder of Wednesday, before conditions clear into the weekend. Additional rainfall during Wednesday is most likely to prolong the flooding currently moving through the Paroo River system.

The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Paroo River to Eulo

Major flooding is occurring along the Paroo River at Eulo and Humeburn.

Paroo River downstream of Eulo
