Major Flood Warning for the Paroo River (NSW)

FLOOD LEVEL SIMILAR TO 1990 AND 2010 LIKELY AT WILLARA CROSSING FROM SUNDAY AND AT WANAARING FROM MID NEXT WEEK

Moderate to locally heavy rainfall has been observed across the Paroo River catchment in Queensland during last week. This rainfall has resulted in areas of significant major flooding along the Paroo River in Queensland. A major flood peak passed though Eulo on Monday and is now around the Caiwarro area.

As these floodwaters arrive from the Paroo River in Queensland, significant flooding similar to the 1990 and 2010 floods is likely at Willara Crossing from Sunday, where minor flooding is currently occurring. River levels are rising at Wanaaring where major flooding is likely from early next week, with further rises likely to the 1990 and 2010 flood levels, from mid next week.

Further rainfall is forecast from for the remainder of Wednesday which may prolong the flood peaks currently moving through the Paroo River system.

A major flood warning is current for the Paroo River (QLD).

Major flooding may occur along the Paroo River (NSW) at Wanaaring. Minor flooding is occurring at Willara Crossing.
