There are signs rising floodwaters along the Bremer River at Ipswich have peaked below the major flood level, in a major relief for residents.

It comes after ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred brought a deluge to south-east Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales.

Flood alerts have been issued for multiple parts of south-east Queensland and more than 100,000 homes and businesses are still without power.
