A strengthening ridge extends over the North Queensland waters and will persist for the next few days. A trough extends from the northern Peninsula across the Peninsula Coast waters. An embedded tropical low [1005 hPa] lies in the trough in the northern Coral Sea off the Peninsula east coast, and is expected to move slowly east or southeast and remain well away from the Queensland coast over the next few days with further development of this system likely.
