A weakening ridge extends over the south Queensland waters. Severe Tropical Cyclone Alfred [965 hPa] is well offshore in the Coral Sea, enhancing winds and waves. Severe Tropical Cyclone Alfred will move broadly southwards and is forecast to remain offshore, though there remains a possibility of it moving towards the central or southern Queensland coast early next week.
