Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge along the New South Wales coast, maintaining generally east to northeasterly winds across coastal waters. Winds are expected to tend southerly along southern and central parts of the coast during Monday, ahead of a cold front approaching from the southwest. This early shift is associated with a pre-frontal trough developing along the coast. The front itself is forecast to enter southern coastal waters late Monday or early Tuesday, with a more established southerly flow extending northwards along the coast in its wake. A new high pressure system will move eastwards from the Bight following the front, re-establishing a ridge across New South Wales waters from mid-week, with winds tending east to southeasterly.
