A trough along the Byron coast is moving further offshore today, while a high pressure ridge lies along the rest of the coast, replaces the northern trough. Friday, a southerly change moves up the coast from a cold front, which reaches the northern border on Saturday bringing gusty conditions. A low pressure system is expected to form in the Tasman after this which may bring some additional southerly surges during the weekend.
